Before Your First Visit

You will be emailed a questionnaire to fill out and bring with you. This form begins your process of self-inquiry and care, giving you time to get clear on your current state of health. We will also be able to spend more time focusing on you, instead of filling out paperwork.

The form will discuss diet, lifestyle habits like—how well you sleep (or not) and how much exercise you get. Set aside a little time and acknowledge the incredible gift you are giving yourself by beginning this health journey!

The Visit

The first consultation is typically an hour, giving us focused time for your in-depth intake. After discussing your current health concerns and paperwork, I then take your pulse. There is much more to this simple act of checking your pulse than meets the eye.

Your pulse holds the code to your unique rhythm, and reveals your constitution, your body’s imbalances, and sheds light on the root cause of your symptoms.

After we have gathered all the pieces of your health information, I will tailor a specific treatment plan for you. The plan may be something as simple as tweaking a few things in your diet or adding some Ayurvedic medicinal herbs. The treatment could also be something more encompassing and sometimes drastic, like a detox plan and an overarching lifestyle change.

Ayurveda recognizes that change must be introduced very slowly for it to be effective, and gradual change is often easier for most people to adjust to. Whether you are at a place where you are open to big change or not, everybody can make healthful changes if they are simply willing.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about Ayurveda, I’d be happy to speak with you to make sure this is the right fit. Please contact me and read more about this incredible health and healing science below.

What is Ayurveda?

Simply put, Ayurveda is an ancient healing science designed to bring the body back to optimal health and balance, so it can heal itself.

In discovering Ayurveda, you will find there are many methodologies that work together to create whole health and healing. Ayurveda goes beyond symptoms to uncover the root of the imbalance, and works with the body and mind to create harmonious systems, constitution, and an overall environment.

Nutrition, herbs, mediation, yoga, massage, along with creating a balanced lifestyle in harmony with the seasons, are all important aspects of Ayurveda. Designed to heal the whole person, this healing science helps you find your rhythm within daily and seasonal routines to ensure maximal health, mental clarity, and longevity.

Going to sleep and rising with the sun, eating seasonal foods for your region, and building your activities around the natural rhythms of the day are all simple and profound ways to stay in harmony with nature.

Ayurvedic medicine also recognizes that one’s individual nature is reflected in their body type, or dosha. The doshas represent three main principles of nature, called vata (air), pitta (fire) and kapha (earth-water).

Each person is a unique combination of these three principles or doshas. Once we’ve determined your body type (which we will do in your initial intake), Ayurveda provides regimens to align our internal nature with the larger cycles of nature, such as the daily rhythms and seasonal cycles. What we eat, how we exercise, when we sleep, and even where we choose to live, will be unique to each person.

Ayurveda is a powerful yet nurturing way to nourish your body back to its natural state of optimal health—and to proactively maintain your ideal balance. Whatever your current state of health, Ayurveda is designed to help you to create a balanced mind-body for life!
